A HERDSMAN from Inyathi who allegedly sodomised his employer’s children, a boy aged five and an eight-year-old girl over a period of one year, has been arrested.
The man (24) (name withheld to protect the minors) of Siganda area in Inyathi allegedly had anal sex with the children multiple times between January and December 2016. He allegedly damaged the children’s sphincter muscles and they can no longer hold in stools when nature calls.
A court in Bulawayo yesterday heard that the juvenile’s parents were in South Africa, seeking employment, while the children were left in the custody of the herdsman and a maid who was his lover.
The man appeared before Regional Magistrate Mr Crispen Mberewere facing two counts of aggravated indecent assault. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to today.
“I didn’t rape the children. I have been working for this family for some years and their parents did not pay me. They are now lying saying that I raped their children so that l can go to jail,” said the man. Prosecuting, Mr Busani Moyo said the maid quit her job and left the children with the accused.
A 22-YEAR-OLD Bulilima woman has been arrested for allegedly forcing her husband’s 14-year-old nephew to have sexual intercourse with her.
The woman who cannot be named to protect the identity of the juvenile appeared before Plumtree magistrate, Mr Joshua Mawere, facing aggravated indecent assault charges.
She was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to June 15. Prosecuting, Mrs Rose Sibanda said the Madlambuzi woman met the juvenile, a Form Two pupil, sometime in January while he was looking for donkeys.
She undressed and ordered him to have sexual intercourse with her. Mrs Sibanda said the woman threatened her nephew and told him not to report the matter to anyone.
She said sometime in April rumours started spreading in the community that the juvenile had slept with his aunt. Mrs Sibanda said the juvenile revealed what had transpired to his mother after she confronted him. The matter was reported to the police resulting in the woman’s arrest.
A 20-year-old sports coach at a Bulawayo school has been arrested for allegedly plying a 14-year-old pupil with alcohol and raping her overnight.
A court heard that the teen is in the man’s sports team at school.Allegations are that the coach, whose identity is being withheld, intoxicated the teen, spent the night with her and sent her home the following morning.
Western Commonage Magistrate Mr Lungile Ncube did not ask him to plead to a rape charge. He remanded him in custody to June 16.
Prosecuting, Mr Mufaro Mageza told the court that the coach got the pupil drunk in September last year and took her to his home where he raped her once overnight.
“Accused person met complainant while she was walking home. He asked her to accompany him to his home. Accused gave complainant some alcohol and she got drunk. He raped her once. Complainant returned to her place of residence the following morning,” said Mr Mageza.
A 68-YEAR-OLD Chiredzi man will spend the next 14 years in jail for sodomising his neighbour’s five-year-old son. Makasani Gosha Mukondo sexually abused the boy after his mother sent him to collect dried vegetables at Mukondo’s homestead.
Chiredzi senior regional magistrate Mrs Judith Zuyu convicted Mukondo on his own plea of guilty on Monday. Mrs Zuyu sentenced him to 17 years in jail before suspending three years on condition of good behaviour.
Delivering sentence Mrs Zuyu said Mukondo acted wickedly when he sexually assaulted an innocent boy who looked up to him for protection. “What you did to the innocent boy does not only defy logic but shows that you harbour some animalistic spirit.
The court heard the woman ordered her son to accompany Mukondo to his house to get the vegetables.
“Upon entering the house Mukondo ordered the boy to lower his trousers and he had anal sex with him against the victim’s consent. After committing the crime, Mukondo gave the victim the dried vegetables but told the boy not to tell anyone what had happened. When he arrived home, his mother asked why he had taken long and he narrated what had transpired,” said Ms Rusere.
She said a report was made to Hippo Valley Police leading to Mukondo’s arrest. A medical report produced in court indicated that there was penetration on the boy.
TWO men from Plumtree who took turns to rape a 15-year-old girl as punishment for double-crossing them, have each been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Ntando Songo (20) and Edmore Tshuma (18) raped the girl on Tuesday last week when they met her in a bush in Madlambuzi, Plumtree, while they were herding cattle.
A court heard Songo and Tshuma accused the girl of double-crossing them before dragging her into a secluded area where they took turns to rape her.
The two who pleaded not guilty were however convicted by Bulawayo regional magistrate Mr Crispen Mberewere. He sentenced each of the accused to 10 years in prison but suspended four years on each on condition of good behaviour.
In his defence Tshuma said: “I was in love with this girl and we discovered that she was double-crossing us. I became angry and slapped her once and she apologised. After that, l gave her an option to have sex with us or we assault her for double- crossing us. She then agreed to have sex with us.”
A PROMINENT businessman from Chirumanzu who was facing allegations of raping his wife’s younger sister (18) has been acquitted.
Seviyasi Piki, a polygamist and well known Zanu-PF member with businesses dotted around Chirumhanzu pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape when he appeared before Regional Magistrate Mr Morgan Nemadire.
At the close of the State’s case, Mr Nemadire discharged Piki saying the evidence availed to the court did not add up, hence the court did not have faith in what the complainant was saying.
“The evidence given by the complainant is not credible. She took too long to report the matter; the complainant only reported the matter after the issue of a phone bill occurred,” said the magistrate.
In his defence Piki said he did not rape his sister in-law.
“These allegations only surfaced when she was confronted about a $200 phone bill by her sister which accumulated when she was calling her boyfriend.
SOUTH Africa’s police have arrested 11 Tanzanians who allegedly gang-raped a 22 year-old Zimbabwean woman in South Africa while she was coming from work recently.
Zimbabwe Consul-General in South Africa Mr Batiraishe Mukonoweshuro yesterday said the suspects have since appeared in court following the alleged rape in Johannesburg.
“They have been arrested and taken to court. They appeared in court on May 16 and will appear again on June 20 at the Johannesburg Regional Court,” said Mr Mukonoweshuro. He said it was a relief that the suspects had been arrested.
Mr Mukonoweshuro said the rape victim was left in a traumatic state. “She is still traumatised and we decided to wait a bit for now. At least we are happy that her attackers have been arrested. We will try to give her time and at some point we will re-engage her,” he said.
Names of the suspects were not immediately available.
A 22-YEAR-OLD Zimbabwean woman based in South Africa was allegedly gang raped by 11 Tanzanians while coming from work last week.
The incident occurred in Johannesburg and the Zimbabwean Embassy is investigating the sexual assault. The woman’s identity has been withheld for ethical reasons.
Zimbabwe Consul-General in South Africa Mr Batiraishe Mukonoweshuro said his team was on the ground to establish what really occurred. He said the woman was sexually violated while coming from work.
Mr Mukonoweshuro said the woman was working at a tavern that closes very late at night or in the early morning hours. He said 11 Tanzanians could have ganged on her as she was heading home. The Consul-General could not reveal whether the rapists had been arrested. Mr Mukonoweshuro urged Zimbabweans to be alert while travelling at night saying Johannesburg was a very dangerous city.
“There has always been violence especially in Johannesburg and we urge people to take extra care. Therefore, it is always advisable that people should secure their travel because there are those criminal elements who always want to take advantage of the situation,” said Mr Mukonoweshuro.

A FORM One pupil at a Bulawayo school has been arrested for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl after he lured her into his bedroom.
The 13-year-old boy from Emganwini suburb who cannot be named for ethical reasons raped their tenant`s daughter on January 27 this year at around 7PM.
The boy appeared before regional magistrate Ms Msipa-Marondedze facing a charge of rape. He pleaded not guilty and Mr Msipa-Marondedze remanded him out of custody to tomorrow.
“I didn`t rape her. We were just playing together,” he said. Prosecuting, Ms Caroline Matanga said the pupil was playing with the girl in his bedroom and he removed the complainant`s clothes.
“The complainant`s mother was puzzled by the silence of the complainant leading her to check around the house and found the complainant naked and crying,” said Ms Matanga.
“The complainant`s mother confronted her daughter and she revealed that she had been raped by the accused person. The complainant was referred to the United Bulawayo Hospitals and a medical report will be produced in court as evidence.”
A MAN has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo on Sunday just before midnight when she was coming from a local bar.
A court heard that Phillip Nsimbi (30) of Barbourfields suburb raped the woman who cannot be named for ethical reasons; about six hours after the Highlanders and Dynamos match that was abandoned just before half time due to crowd trouble.
Nsimbi appeared before magistrate Mr Tinashe Tashaya facing a charge of rape. Mr Tashaya did not ask him to plead and remanded him in custody to June 1.
Prosecuting, Mr Nkathazo Dlodlo said Nsimbi allegedly raped the woman who resides in the same suburb.
Mr Dlodlo said Nsimbi proposed love to the woman on Friday last week when they were at Emagumeni Sports Bar in Barbourfields suburb having some drinks. She turned him down.
The prosecutor said this did not go down well with Nsimbi who strangled the woman until she sustained scratch wounds on her neck. Mr Dlodlo said Nsimbi slapped the complainant several times on her face before raping her once without protection.
A 25-year-old Figtree man who tracked and raped his mother’s 67 year-old drunken friend while she was coming from a beer drink, was on Friday sentenced to 14 years in jail.
Smile Zikhali of Ezihwabeni village was convicted on his own plea of guilty to rape by Bulawayo regional magistrate Mr Crispen Mberewere. He will serve an effective 10 years in jail after four years were suspended for five years on condition that he does not within that period commit a similar crime.
In passing the sentence, Mr Mberewere, took into account the fact that Zikhali was a youthful first offender who did not waste the court’s time by pleading guilty.
“Rape is a serious offence which is prevalent these days. You humiliated a 67 year-old woman by undressing and raping her and it is clearly unacceptable.
Drinking beer should not be used as an excuse to commit crime,” said the magistrate. He said Zikhali’s conduct was deplorable and unacceptable On being asked why he committed the offence, Zikhali, a single father of two, said he was drunk and did not know what transpired..
A VICTORIA FALLS man who allegedly raped his wife’s two minor daughters from her previous marriage and infected them with HIV is expected to stand trial next Monday in Hwange. The two minors aged eight and six years also sustained injuries after the 34-year-old man from Chinotimba suburb also had anal sex with them.
The alleged rapist stepfather, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the two minors, faces two counts of rape. It could not be established if aggravated indecent assault charges will also be preferred against him for having anal sex with the girls.
The man allegedly abused the two girls when they visited their mother in December last year. Their mother lives in Victoria Falls with the alleged rapist while her children live with their maternal grandmother in Ndlovu area just outside the resort town.
According to court documents, both the accused who is a fuel dealer and the girls’ mother allegedly tried to conceal the offence by forcing the minors to implicate a neighbour who was arrested and detained in January.
The neighbour was only released after residents tipped police that he was being framed.
